I was going thru my recent find bag and came across something i forgot about! I thought it to be some ornamental piece or a token and forgot about it. Little did I know I was the proud owner of 100 Mon I showed it to a buddy at work and dropped it on the desk and said wow sounds like $$$! We googled it and found out it is a Japanese coin used from 1835-1870. It has no dates or mint marks and values ranged from $3-$130. Some of these are bronze. I am pretty certain this one is copper. Pretty cool find for my parents front yard at the Jersey Shore!

The Standard Catalog of World Coins list it as a MAMEITA "BEAN" GIN 100 MON (Tempo Tsuho). Usually 5-8 grams. Made of Copper and pieces over 10 grams my command up to twice the values. Pieces under 5 grams are somewhat less. In XF condition it is worth around $9.00

NICE FIND
